Our message board has grown steadily over the last couple years and we finally outgrew the old system that we were using. It was riddled with bugs, spam and registration issues.
This summer, we made it a priority to migrate to a new message board before the start of the 2015-16 season. We came close to our deadline, but we’re finally live with the new system, powered by Discourse. The new message board should provide a better (and faster) user experience on mobile and desktop and also fewer ads and less spam that had polluted the previous message boards.
You can find the new message board at the old URL — forum.umhoops.com. You’ll have to reset your password in able to access your old account. (To reset your password: click Login, Forgot Password and then follow the instructions in your email inbox).
The new system has some very nice features like an integrated Twitter feed of relevant Michigan accounts (click the Twitter icon in the top right), infinite scroll on posts to prevent clicking through pages and pages of threads, a trust level system that gives positive members of the community more control, browser notifications, and much, much more. A year later, we’ve finally updated the message boards to match the look and feel of the main site.
If you never registered for the old message board, please give these ones a try and let us know what you think. We’re looking forward to growing our community throughout the 2015-16 season.
