In an effort to expand our coverage this year, we’ve brought Gibson Pyper on board to do a regular feature — Film Room — on the X’s and O’s of the game. Pyper will be breaking down Michigan’s offense and defense as well as providing an in-depth schematic look at Michigan’s opponents. 

Pyper runs The Basketball Playbook, a website dedicated to the finer details of how teams execute and run both offense and defenses. He has extensive experience diagramming and breaking down how college and professional offenses work.

Today we kick off the first edition of Film Room with an overview of Michigan’s defensive philosophies that should serve as a baseline to start the season.
