Video Breakdown: The Development and Emergence of Jon Teske

Eric has been posting Michigan and other basketball-related videos on Twitter this season and will be providing new content to UM Hoops throughout the season. To find more of his video breakdowns and other basketball musings, be sure to follow him here.

After playing 35 minutes against Northwestern on Sunday evening, accumulating 17 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, two blocks, and committing zero fouls, there’s no better time to take a closer look at Jon Teske’s ascension this season.

If Zavier Simpson is the quarterback of Michigan’s defense, Teske is its anchor. According to Big Ten Network, an anonymous head coach indicated that Teske is, “the best pick and roll defender in our league.”

Teske’s development and emergence has been instrumental to Michigan’s perfect start to the season. He is able to shoulder heavy minutes while leaving his imprint on many parts of the game.
