Wagner’s game starts with his elite catch-and-shoot ability. He’s at his best playing off the catch, and his length enables him to get off his shot effortlessly against defenders as they close out. Wagner is shooting 37% on catch-and-shoot jumpers with ALBA’s senior outfit, which is an impressive figure considering that he’s playing from the FIBA line against professionals.
Michigan’s roster is desperate for reliable shooting threats — regardless of the offense or coach — and Wagner should fit the bill as an instant impact shooter. His release is quick and repeatable, and he’s great from both corners.
As you will note in the video, Wagner’s shooting ability is almost entirely off the catch. He takes almost five times as many catch-and-shoot jumpers as off-the-dribble jumpers and he shoots just 29% on off the dribble jump shots with ALBA.
