When it was first reported that Greg Brown had scheduled an official visit to Michigan, the natural reaction was a raised eyebrow.
After Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams committed last month, the Wolverines already have 13 scholarships filled for next semester, albeit with some likely departures. They’re hard after five-star shooting guard Joshua Christopher. Five-star commitment Isaiah Todd, Juwan Howard’s top-ranked commit thus far, is tied to rumors that he could be lured overseas with the right offer.
In short, there were a lot of ways to read the news that the Wolverines are in for Brown, another five-star, and the eighth-ranked player in the 2020 class, per 247Sports’ composite rating. The Browns, at least, don’t see this as a potential safety net for Michigan though.
“It’s funny that coaches and people ask those questions,” Greg Brown II, Brown’s father, told UM Hoops. “If we weren’t serious about going, if we weren’t serious about a place, I’m not wasting my time. My time is precious. And I have two young kids and a wife; you know what I’m saying?
