Out of nowhere, Nojel Eastern committed to Michigan on Thursday afternoon — two days after he announced his transfer from Purdue.
Eastern is Michigan’s second transfer commitment of the offseason. He has one year of eligibility remaining and will have to sit out the 2020-21 season unless he receives a transfer waiver from the NCAA. A vote on a one-time blanket waiver for immediate eligibility is expected on May 20th.
Eastern has played against Michigan six times in his career, so fans are already familiar with his game. Despite that familiarity, the idea of seeing him in a Michigan uniform is still fresh.
Here’s our best attempt to unpack what Eastern will look like at Michigan, what makes sense and what doesn’t makes sense about the transfer including advanced stats, shot charts, video and more.
