2020-21 Season

Five thoughts on Isaiah Livers’ decision to return to Michigan

Isaiah Livers is coming back for his senior season.

In the end, this was really the only decision that made sense despite a global pandemic. It was clear that Livers wasn’t going to be drafted and his chances of landing a guaranteed contract were long. He went into the season with the intention of declaring for the NBA Draft and stuck to his plans.

I don’t think there’s any doubt that he was ready to be a pro and would have leaped at the opportunity if it was available, but his health was an obstacle that was almost impossible to overcome without any in-person evaluation.  Livers needed to play his way into the conversation and you can’t accomplish that with a series of Zoom calls.

Here are five thoughts on Livers’ decision, his return to Ann Arbor and what it means for Michigan in 2020-21.
