Michigan will ring in the new year in College Park on Thursday night (8 p.m., ESPN) as it attempts to remain unbeaten.
The Wolverines will face a confident Maryland team that notched a 70-64 upset win at Wisconsin on Monday. The Terps scored on 16 of their final 18 possessions at the Kohl Center to secure one of the biggest upsets of the conference season.
Expectations were low for Mark Turgeon’s squad, but they are ranked 37th on KenPom with respectable wins against Saint Peter’s, La Salle and Wisconsin and losses at Clemson, at Purdue and home against Rutgers. Even with the upset in Madison, Maryland still feels like a bottom-half Big Ten team, but they have proven they can beat anyone in the league on a good night.
