Very good rundown from Painter re: how this all played out. Everyone should listen to this, especially the ones who were questioning Purdue’s integrity in the game thread.

As someone who became symptomatic and tested positive in mid December (with no known exposure point), and was told at that time that I was contagious for 2 days before I became symptomatic, this is baffling to me. I am hopeful that no other Purdue players test positive in the next few days and that no :part_alternation_mark: players test positive in a week or so, but I’m not optimistic.

Yeah… I don’t think anyone really knows that part for sure but certainly a bit troubling. The first thing to watch will probably be OSU results and if there are any issues tomorrow.

I was just coming on to post essentialy the same sentiment. You took the words out of my mouth. Matt Painter is the consummate pro. He is an excellent coach and certainly someone I would want my son to play for. His explanation was, as you say, calm, confident, and intelligent.

I also liked the fact that there was no whining about the game at all, The was no reference to playing “weird guys” or “woe is me” type comments. There is a reason he is and has been my second favorite coach in the conference!

I think we fans sometimes live and die with EVERY game, but Matt understands that it’s a process. You want to win them all, but you’re not going to. His goal is to get better and better as the season progresses, so that by the end of the year anything is possible. I think you’re right in that Matt knew in order to beat Michigan his team would have to play a near perfect game, and so he probably did realize the W, without the leadership and presence of Stefanovic was, in all likelihood, not coming and, therefore, he was more relaxed with the outcome.

He also started three freshmen and played, I believe, five freshmen, so it really was an opportunity to learn for those young kids by playing an outstanding team with great senior leadership. So, he will emphasize in practice this week improving on the mistakes his kids made and just becoming tougher as he said. I will say this, though, I thought his kids played tough, physical basketball, and as they develop they will get better and better! Matt really is a great coach, and, I think, a truly good man!
