For the second year in a row, Michigan tips off its season against the MAC favorites. The Wolverines host Buffalo from the Crisler Center tonight (6:30 p.m., BTN) as they pass the torch from last year’s Big Ten title team with a banner ceremony in the pregame.
The Bulls will provide a formidable early-season test and won’t allow Michigan to ease their way into the season. They feature four returning starters, including three All-MAC candidates, and check-in at No. 91 in the preseason KenPom top-100. Buffalo plays hard, fast, and physical and should be an excellent early indicator of how up-to-date Juwan Howard’s team is on its defensive fundamentals on the glass and in transition.
