Michigan has a chance to get back on track tonight when it hosts Tarleton State for a much-needed tune-up at the Crisler Center. The Texans are 1-4 on the season with their lone win over Paul Quinn, an NAIA program, and losses against Stanford, Kansas, Wichita State, and North Dakota State (by a point).
This is former Kentucky head coach Billy Gillispie’s second year in charge at Tarleton, which transitioned to Division I last season, and his team is picked to finish somewhere around the middle of the pack in the WAC this season. Tonight’s game (7:00 p.m., BTN) will be the first game the Texans have ever played against Michigan or any Big Ten school.
Tarleton lacks the size to compete with the Wolverines, but it does play a unique style defensively that should pose a test for Michigan’s guards, who have been inconsistent in early-season action.
