DeVante’ Jones held back tears Sunday night after Michigan’s name was announced during the Selection Show. Jones waited a college basketball lifetime for this moment, one he had dreamt of and prayed for since his childhood. In his last hurrah and by the skin of his teeth, he had made the NCAA Tournament.
“To have the ability to play in March Madness, that’s something everybody can’t do,” Jones said on Sunday. “I’m gonna take it seriously and take advantage.”
But he may not have the chance.
Jones did not travel with his teammates to Indianapolis Tuesday night, instead remaining in Ann Arbor, stuck in concussion protocol. He sustained the injury in practice earlier this week, a recipient of an inadvertent elbow to the face.
