Michigan filled its last open scholarship spot Sunday afternoon with the commitment of Lebanese forward Youssef Khayat.
Khayat, who averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds per game last season in the French Espoirs league, credited the Michigan coaching staff for alluring him to Ann Arbor.
“From the start, I felt at home with the coaching staff and the way they presented stuff, with Coach Juwan (Howard), who’s one of the best coaches right now in basketball,” Khayat told The Field of 68. “… Coach Juwan, he told me my role, how I can play, how I can impact the team. So I’m excited for it.”
And what exactly will that role look like?
“For me, I’m an attacker,” Khayat said. “I can attack in every single way. I can play transition offense, I can do everything on the court, basically. And I can play defense, too. I’m someone that prides themselves on defense, someone that likes to play defense. I think my game translates a lot to the college level.”
