Michigan heads on the road to face TCU on Friday night (9:00 p.m., ESPN2) in Fort Worth. It’s the second leg of a home-and-home that Michigan won 76-64 last year in Ann Arbor, and the first road test of the season for the Wolverines.
The Horned Frogs were picked to finish 10th in the Big 12 this year, but have gotten off to a rough start. They lost the opener to New Orleans — falling behind by 19 points and storming back, only to fall short — and also lost starting center Malick Diallo to a season-ending injury early in that game.

That early loss caused TCU to slide from 66th to 91st on KenPom despite a pair of wins over Saint Francis and Lamar. It’s a game that Michigan will want to have on paper, but also a game that will pack a bit more punch on the postseason resume than conventional wisdom.
Winning on the road is hard, especially early in the season. There have only been 14 high-major road games so far this season, and road teams are 4-10 in those contests.
