Five takeaways from Michigan’s dominant Players Era Championship win over Gonzaga

In one of the most highly anticipated non-conference games in recent history, the No. 7 Michigan men’s basketball team made winning a championship look easy.

Wednesday night against Gonzaga, the Wolverines effortlessly took care of business in a tournament format that saw them play three games in as many days. Michigan looks like one of the most complete teams on offense and defense. Through the early season, the Wolverines have displayed dominance all season on defense, but the offense is finally starting to click in Las Vegas.

“We got just absolutely throttled,” Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. “I’ve never been involved with anything like that. So this is going to be a great challenge and learning experience for me.”

Michigan’s throttling of the Zags and the entire Players Era tournament is just the first step to proving how the Wolverines can be the best team in the country.
