2025-26 Season

Michigan basketball ranked No. 1 in initial NCAA NET rankings

The NCAA NET rankings were released for the first time this season on Monday morning and Michigan occupies the top spot at No. 1.

The Wolverines are now ranked 1st by the NET, KenPom and Bart Torvik. They also lead college basketball in “wins above bubble” which is an NCAA measurement of resume quality.

Michigan has three quadrant one victories in the bag — Gonzaga (5th), Auburn (30th) and TCU (54th) — with Wake Forest (56th) on the fringe.

More than three months remain until Selection Sunday for the 2026 NCAA tournament.

Here’s how the entire Big Ten is ranked in the first edition of the NET, which will be updated daily:

1. Michigan
3. Purdue
10. Michigan State
11. Indiana
16. Iowa

Oakland at #115. I did not expect that, nor that they would have a better NET than four Big Ten teams at this point of the season.
