Michigan is no longer undefeated after Wisconsin upset them at home on Saturday, behind a flurry of 3-pointers in the second half. Unlike any other game this season, it was the Wolverines’ defense that inhibited them, and an inability to generate stops down the stretch rendered a relatively impressive offensive performance moot.
Monday, Michigan will fly out to the West Coast for a pair of games at Washington on Wednesday and at Oregon on Saturday. Ahead of practice, Michigan coach Dusty May spoke to the media about Yaxel Lendeborg’s health, what he learned from rewatching the loss to the Badgers, and the importance of the upcoming road trip.
UPDATE ON YAXEL LENDEBORG
May began his injury update on Lendeborg, Michigan’s star forward, who has been listed as questionable for the last two games with a calf contusion and ultimately contributed 14-6-2 in 30 minutes, with some commentary on one drawback of the transfer portal.
“This is one of the downsides of this era, where you don’t know these guys,” May said. “You haven’t coached them and been through a lot of things together. But we have been through a minor injury with Yax and it took him a couple games early in the year to get his flow back. And so I saw him yesterday, he seemed much better. He seems to be healed, and so hopefully, just like he did after Wake Forest and those games where he had the hand injury, he gets back to being himself.”
