2025-26 Season

Michigan moves to No. 1 in latest AP Poll for first time since 2013

For the first time since 2013, Michigan is the No. 1 team in the country.

The Wolverines have frequently been ranked 1st in the NET, KenPom, Bart Torvik, and other analytical metrics, but finally took over the top spot in the AP Top 25 today.

Michigan’s 24-1 start is the best in program history, and it holds a two-game lead in the Big Ten standings. The Wolverines earned 60 of 61 first-place votes, with one voter ranking No. 2 Houston at No. 1.

The Wolverines are also ranked No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, where they received all 31 first-place votes.

Michigan has played 38 games all-time as the No. 1 team in the country, with the most recent spells coming in 2013 and 1992.

The No. 1 ranking comes ahead of the most hyped week of the schedule, with a Tuesday night game at No. 7 Purdue and a Saturday game against No. 3 Duke in Washington, D.C.

It looks like everyone had Michigan No. 2 last week, and no one had Houston No. 1, so that means someone jumped Houston over Michigan in this week’s poll. :hot_pepper:

Duke was 21 points behind Houston last week. Only 5 points behind today, and thats with someone giving a totally BS 1st place vote to Houston.

We were oh so close to the voters successfully pushing Duke to #2 to force a #1 vs #2 matchup on Saturday

Was about to comment the same thing lol. Looks like it’ll be #1 vs #3, like it was when we played Indiana in 2013
