First Look: Michigan’s opening weekend draw and beyond

Michigan earned a No. 1 seed in the Midwest regional, but enters the NCAA Tournament on a dour note after falling short against Purdue in the Big Ten Tournament Championship game.

The Wolverines won’t know who they’ll face in Thursday’s opening-round game (7:10 p.m., CBS) until Tuesday night, when UMBC and Howard face off in Dayton for the First Four.

Heads up! We’ve added every NCAA Tournament team to our Shot Charts tool for UM Hoops+. Get the edge while filling out your bracket with team and player shot charts for every team in the field.

Even without a known opponent, ‘First Look’ is an NCAA Tournament tradition around here that must go on. We break down UMBC and Howard, scout the 8-9 game, and map out Michigan’s path through the Midwest Regional.
