We always knew that Michigan could play defense. The Wolverines had a defensive reputation before the 2018-19 season began and cemented that rep as a suffocating defense in November.
Now we know that Michigan can score too. While the defense has regressed gradually (ranked 28th over the last eight games compared to 1st over the first seven), the offense has taken off. Over the last eight games, Michigan’s offense is ranked 9th in the country compared to just 21st over the first seven.
What has changed? The Wolverines have refined their ball screen offense and discovered an elite scorer in sophomore guard Jordan Poole.
