Eight minutes into the first half of Michigan’s 80-60 win over Northwestern, junior guard Zavier Simpson made his first three-pointer of the game.
Except he didn’t.
The shot went in, yes, but it got called back because of a foul committed by the Wildcats prior to the ball leaving Simpson’s hands.
And at that moment, Michigan coach John Beilein knew Simpson would be just fine. He’d missed one previous three-pointer attempt, and Beilein was about to tell Simpson to relax.
Then the ball went in.
