Michigan heads to Madison this weekend for a Sunday matinee against the Wisconsin Badgers (1:00 p.m., CBS) in a game that presents a confounding matchup of perception versus reality.
The Wolverines are on the bubble and the Badgers are contending for a Big Ten title, but every computer metric says that the two teams are even on paper. The Wolverines enter Sunday ranked 30th by KenPom while Wisconsin checks in at 32nd. Michigan has outscored Big Ten foes by 4.7 points per 100 possessions, the Badgers by just 1.4 points per 100 possessions.
What that all means on one cold afternoon at the Kohl Center is anyone’s guess, but there’s little doubt that the two teams match up better than their records, or perceived national status, suggest.
