Five takeaways from Michigan’s exhibition win over Eastern Michigan

In its first exhibition game on U.S. soil this season, Michigan handily defeated Eastern Michigan. The Wolverines built an 11-point lead by halftime and used a second-half explosion to beat the Eagles, 87-62.

Michigan didn’t empty the playbook against Eastern Michigan, but it showed flashes of the style it wants to play in Mike Boynton Jr.’s first season as head coach.

Here are five takeaways from the win, including thoughts on Michigan’s new center, why Roddy Gayle Jr. didn’t play, and more.

The takeaways

  1. Moustapha Thiam is a Big Ten-ready big
  2. Trey McKenney picked up right where he left off
  3. Latest on Liburd, Gayle
  4. When Michigan can hit the three-ball, its offense looks dangerous
  5. 'Not as imposing at the rim'
