2024-25 Season

Game 27: Michigan at Nebraska Preview

Michigan doesn’t have time to mope about its Friday night loss to Michigan State. On a short turnaround, it faces Nebraska tonight (8:00 p.m., FS1) at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers are coming off a humbling defeat of their own, an 89-72 loss at Penn State, and are working to punch their bid to the NCAA tournament. It’s been a rollercoaster season for Fred Hoiberg’s group.

Nebraska started the year 12-2 with upset wins over Creighton and UCLA but then lost six consecutive Big Ten games in January. An overtime home win over Illinois turned things around and sparked a four-game winning streak, but now the Huskers are struggling again. They lost at home to Maryland, needed a 20-point second-half comeback to win at shorthanded Northwestern, and then got run off the floor at Penn State on Wednesday.

The Huskers are in the NCAA Tournament field right now but are hard to project night by night. A late-February Q1 home win over Michigan could cement their postseason hopes, but a home loss would take them perilously close to the cut line.
