2024-25 Season

BTT 2025: Michigan vs. Purdue Recap

For the first time in weeks, if not months, Michigan looked like it was having fun on the basketball court again. The Wolverine offense, which had fallen outside the top 100 nationally over the last ten games, had its spark again on Friday night.

The identity of this team was always ball movement, tempo, cutting, and finishing. The best Michigan performances of the season came when the Wolverines finished at the basket, shared the ball and played free. Tonight, Michigan looked on track to getting back to its best in an 86-68 win over Purdue.

The Wolverines scored 1.3 points per possession, shot 69% inside the arc, and recorded assists on 25 of 30 made field goals.

“It’s just enjoying the game,” Tre Donaldson said afterward. “I feel like that’s the biggest thing. And having fun, that’s something we’ve been preaching all week coming off of some tough losses. Just having fun. I feel like our team morale is the best it’s been all year, and that’s big going into March.”

There’s no better time to rediscover a bit of fun, and the Wolverines looked like a team that can make some noise in the postseason. Most importantly, they looked like Michigan again.
