Illinois big man Morez Johnson Jr. commits to Michigan

Illinois big man Morez Johnson Jr. will transfer to Michigan, as first reported by Joe Tipton.

Johnson is a former top-40 recruit who was an impact player as a freshman at Illinois. He averaged 7 points and 6.7 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per game, with stints starting and coming off the bench.

He opted to hit the transfer portal over the weekend and became an immediate priority for the Wolverines as they look to replenish their frontcourt.

Johnson is the second transfer to commit to Michigan this cycle, joining North Carolina guard Elliot Cadeau.

Here’s a full breakdown of the new Michigan big, an assessment of his game, and how he fits in Ann Arbor.
