All Jace Howard knows his dad as is “Old Man.”
Now, with Jace entering his senior year of high school, Juwan, the man he’s always known as just his dad has a new title: head coach of the Michigan men’s basketball team.
“I was kind of laughing to myself,” Howard said. “I was like ‘Wow, my Dad’s the head coach at Michigan now.’ I don’t know him as anything else but ‘Old Man.’ It was crazy that day. I got a lot of texts, a lot of my friends were hyping it up. It was an interesting day.”
When Jace heard his father had accepted the job at Michigan, it didn’t feel real. After nine years with the Miami Heat, three as a player and six as an assistant coach, Juwan Howard was moving from Florida to Michigan to return to his alma mater.
