Franz Wagner to miss 4-6 weeks with wrist injury

Michigan freshman wing Franz Wagner will be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks. Wagner suffered a non-surgical fracture to his right wrist and is expected to make a full recovery, per a statement by the University of Michigan.

“While this is an unfortunate situation for Franz, we know he will make his return as soon as he is able,” Juwan Howard said in a statement. “We have the finest medical staff and trainers at Michigan so we know he is in good hands.”

Michigan sophomore forward Brandon Johns Jr. is also recovering from an ankle sprain, per the Michigan Daily.

The Wolverines play a secret scrimmage on Thursday against Detroit and have their exhibition opener on November 1st. The 2019-20 season tips off on November 5th. Michigan will face Creighton (November 12th) in the early season along with the Battle 4 Atlantis from November 27th through 29th.

Yeeeeeeesh. So if Johns is actually in a walking boot…are we looking at Castleton and Brooks as day one starters with Teske, X and Livers?

I don’t think Johns being in a walking boot means he won’t be ready by seasons start. Could be, but we don’t have much info there

Hopefully Johns’ ankle isn’t also a moderately long term injury either. Could take a while for the team to get going if they’re both out.

We’ve been lucky with injuries the past couple years after being unlucky in Caris’ jr/sr seasons.
