After Sunday’s win against Northwestern, the questions centered on how Michigan basketball responded to the Wildcats’ double-teaming Hunter Dickinson.
That won’t be the case against Minnesota.
For the first time this year, the Wolverines are going up against a center whose stature can match up with the 7-foot-2 Dickinson in Minnesota’s Liam Robbins. Robbins, and his Big Ten-leading 11 percent block rate in conference games, should be enough to let the Gophers play Michigan straight-up. No doubles, no rotations to get into, none of what the Wolverines took so much advantage of just a couple of nights ago.
“I think this will be a very good matchup for me,” Dickinson said. “I’m excited to play against another really good big man, especially in-conference. I think this will be a good test for me and the rest of the team to see how we react after a nice win against a ranked opponent. I think we’d like to come out there and play really well and and show to the rest of the country that we’re for real.”
