2020-21 Season

With team full of tournament newcomers, Michigan embracing bubble experience

Hunter Dickinson, never one to shy away from the headlines, made a few more Monday morning. He posted a picture of his breakfast in Michigan’s quarantined hotel rooms to his Instagram page, quickly drumming up a discussion about the treatment of student-athletes in the Indianapolis bubble.

Certainly, none of it is what Dickinson expected out of the NCAA Tournament, as a kid growing up in Alexandria, Va., watching the likes of Florida Gulf Coast and Loyola make Cinderella runs and dreaming of being there himself someday. Sarcastically, he captioned his post, “An impeccable breakfast from the NCAA.”

Now that he’s here, though, Dickinson and his teammates are embracing this unique iteration of the tournament.

“Coach Howard talked to us last night and told us we need to really just buy in and embrace the suck as he calls it no matter what kind of conditions they give us, we have to do our best to overcome,” Dickinson said. “That starts with the food. From now on, you won’t hear me complaining about the food or nothing like that.”
