West Virginia transfer Jose Perez will take an official visit to Michigan on July 28th, per a report by Trilly Donovan.
Perez is a graduate transfer who entered the portal after Bob Huggins resigned from his post as head coach. He averaged 18.9 points, 4.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game in his last season at Manhattan in 2021-22. He didn’t play last year at WVU after his waiver was denied.
Perez has one year of eligibility remaining and will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer. Michigan has two scholarships remaining and still has a large void of minutes to fill between the two and three spots this offseason after losing Kobe Bufkin and Jett Howard to the NBA Draft.
Perez entered the transfer portal earlier this month and has not taken any other visits. July is a dead period for NCAA basketball recruiting, which means that no in-person recruiting is allowed. A quiet period (in-person recruiting contacts only on the member institution’s campus) begins on July 28th, which means that Perez’s trip to Ann Arbor is set for the first allowable day since he entered the portal.
Other schools involved in Perez’s transfer recruitment include Gonzaga, California and Oregon.

Yes, that’s correct. First date he could visit anywhere.

I mean we’ve gone from “he’s just gonna wait a day to make it look all above board”’ to “he’s gonna visit in a month”.

He’s visiting as early as he can. Davis was naive on the timeline, but he did say that it could go to a visit, he just discounted that it couldn’t happen for a month
