Talked about it on the pod but probably hard to envision – this is the totally wild defense Irvine played against UCSD.

Triangle zone, 7-footer camped in the middle of the paint, one defender sticking to UCSD’s best shooter, Ty McGhie.

You guys scared the daylights out of me with your preview. You made it seem like UC San Diego could have won the Big Ten this year. Your final comments made me feel a little better though. Thanks for the great pod.

Only done w the D half of the pod, but was less encouraging than I hoped. I’ve only really seen bits of the SDSU and Utah State games and those gave me reasonable hope that Michigan could get the ball inside off various hi-lo actions w Vlad as the primary finisher.

One thing @eric_shap sorta mentioned that I noticed Utah State trying to take advantage of was throwing it to the rim anticipating the baseline double? They didn’t actually execute it, which goes to show how good you have to be to get these easy scores? But also, Vlad is just so big that there should be much bigger catching radius for all of these ideas?

Awesome pod, really enjoyed it but that is totally the impression I got! This freaked me out. I am expecting Tait-Jones to shoot 25 free throws, their shooters to turn into Steph Curry 2.0 and hit 20 threes and Danny Wolf to set a Division I turnover record. Probably speaks more to my nerves then anything.

Ha, the thing is at this point in the year… every team is really good. These guys won 30 games, so they have some real strengths.

The question becomes… what happens and how do you adjust when parts of your really good don’t work.

    What holds up, etc.
