2025-26 Season

Game 16: Michigan at Washington Recap

Michigan bounced back from its first loss of the season with a solid road win at Washington on Wednesday night.

Washington scored the first three points, but Michigan answered with a 12-0 run and never looked back. The Huskies scrapped and clawed and never went away, but Michigan kept the game at arm’s length. The Huskies were never able to draw closer than two possessions as Michigan’s front line methodically pushed it to victory.

Aday Mara scored 20 points on 11 shots and created several other scores with his nifty passing, while Morez Johnson Jr. was a one-man wrecking ball on both ends of the court — blowing up possessions on defense, corralling 16 rebounds, and scoring 16 points.

The Wolverines outscored Washington 50-28 in the paint, and that proved to be the eventual difference.

Michigan’s defense set the tone early; its offensive execution won the game late.

It won’t go down as Michigan’s best offensive or defensive game this season, but there were encouraging signs of what makes this team best on both ends of the court.
