The two preseason favorites in the Big Ten will meet for a rematch on Sunday in Chicago (3:30 p.m., CBS) to play for the Big Ten Tournament Championship.
Michigan wants to cap off its 19-1 league season with a Big Ten double. Purdue wants to prove that it’s better than its 13-7 league record and 7 seed, and change its narrative heading into the NCAA Tournament.
Michigan’s win at Mackey Arena in mid-February was one of its best of the season. A dominant wire-to-wire performance in a hostile environment to take full control over the conference title race. It was also the night that Purdue lost any shot at a Big Ten title and began its late-season swoon (2-4 down the stretch in Big Ten play).
Michigan dominated that game with its size, physicality, and rebounding. Purdue will be eager to prove it can’t happen again, the Wolverines will want to prove it was no fluke.
One team will be correct, and that team will watch the Selection Show while holding a trophy on Sunday night.
