Incoming transfer big man JP Estrella plans to stay at Michigan for 2026-27, he told ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Estrella averaged 10 points and 5.4 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game at Tennessee last season. He was one of the top big men in the transfer portal and committed to Michigan quickly in the spring portal process.
Estrella will be a redshirt junior this season, with two years of eligibility remaining.
He’s the fourth player to announce his intention to return to Michigan to play for interim head coach Mike Boynton Jr. after Dusty May’s departure for the Dallas Mavericks, joining Elliot Cadeau, Trey McKenney and Moustapha Thiam.
With those four in the fold, the Wolverines have retained four of five projected starters heading into the 2026-27 season.
