One big question for every player on Michigan’s 2026-27 roster

Offseason practices are underway, exhibition games are around the corner, and Michigan’s three-game European trip is only a month out. As the offseason moves from coaching chaos toward a bit more normalcy at the start of the Mike Boynton Jr. era, attention will shift back to the players.

Before the 2026-27 season arrives, here’s one major question facing each player on the roster, as Michigan looks to mount its repeat campaign.

Elliot Cadeau

Will his finishing improve?

When Elliot Cadeau transferred to Michigan, the biggest question about his game was whether he could shoot the three. He answered that with a resounding yes, knocking down 65-of-173 3-pointers (37.6%) over a 40-game season. Cadeau made at least one triple in 35 of 40 games and had a terrific season running the show for the Wolverines.

Entering his senior year, he projects to be one of the best point guards in the country. He’s also going to have to shoulder an even bigger load for Michigan with so many pieces departing from last year’s roster.

To take the next step this year, he needs to improve his finishing at the basket.

Cadeau shot 47.7% on shots near the hoop last year, per Synergy — 36th percentile volume, 17th percentile accuracy — and while he obviously takes a lot of difficult self-created shots at the basket, improving his efficiency in the paint is the last gap in his game.

He’s already taking the right twos — 10 2-point jumpers, 33 runners, 111 shots at the rim — but shoring up his finishing will take him from a 45% 2-point shooter into the 50s.
