Roddy Gayle Jr. has been granted a TRO in his lawsuit against the NCAA, allowing him to compete and practice ahead of a preliminary injunction hearing scheduled for September 17th at 2 p.m.
Gayle officially filed suit against the NCAA (and Charlie Baker) in Niagara County Supreme Court earlier this week, and is seeking a preliminary injunction to make him eligible to play this season.
Gayle’s complaint states that Michigan has formally extended him a roster opportunity for 2026-27, “conditioned solely on his NCAA eligibility,” and that he was practicing with the team in Lithuania and Croatia (he was pictured on the scout team in video footage).
The suit also confirms that he’s enrolled at Michigan for the fall term and has been continuously enrolled since June 2024, and is on track to graduate in May 2027.
