2026-27 Season

Exhibition: Eastern Michigan at Michigan Recap

Michigan knocked off Eastern Michigan, 87-62, on Sunday afternoon in Ann Arbor in its first of three preseason tuneups this October.

It was choppy at points, in both directions, but that’s to be expected with early October basketball. No team is a finished product in October, and exhibition games have proven to mean very little when the real season rolls around. (Remember, the 132nd-ranked offense scored 100 points to beat the No. 1 defense in last year’s preseason.)

Either way, the reps on the floor were valuable. The Wolverines saw five players — including two freshmen — reach double figures and were led, as expected, by sophomore scoring dynamo Trey McKenney.

McKenney finished with 21 points on 13 shots in 26 minutes while Elliot Cadeau handed out 8 assists (along with 10 points and 7 rebounds) running the show.
