Q1 What drew him to this team
What is it about this team that got you here?
I wouldn't call it a team. I would call it a family. And that's why we got here. Because this is— I'm not playing with teammates.
I'm playing with brothers. So I think that was a big key also. The staff, we have really, really good staff. They gave us everything super easy, all the game plan, all the, you know, they watch so much film, they spend a lot of time just like scouting teams that is so easy to play.
We are always on the same page and I think that's those two keys are the best, like the two things, that's why we're here.
Q2 Yaxel Lendeborg's impact on the team
Aday Mara, can you speak to Yaxel Lendeborg and what he means to you this this team, in this program, the way he came in as a superstar but wanted to fit in, and then to the last night fighting through the injury and clearly less than 100% but still leading.
Yeah, I feel like Yaxel Lendeborg is a warrior, you know, like he's always there, he's always playing good. I'd say a million times, he's an unbelievable player. But I think he didn't have an easy season, you know, I think all the pressure that he had all the expectations. He went through all those things really well, so I'm very proud of him that he was able to play like this and not let all the media and all the people talking affect his game.
Q3 The hug with his parents
That hug with your parents at the end, how long have you been picturing that or waiting for that?
Uh, a lot. A lot. Like, they come to watch me play, be with me every year once or but it's different when you're playing like regular season in December than winning the championship. So it meant a lot.
Just having him here watching me like, keep this up for this program, also for my country. So it's been like, it was super, like, super special. What does it mean to win this for Dusty? I'm going to repeat myself, but it means a lot because I feel like he's I was in the pro teams, I played pro.
I played with really, really good coaches, but I think he's like one step above everyone else. Just by how hard he works, like all the hours that he spends, you know, he goes to the facility and, you know, I'm always working, so I take the path, like I can see his office from the window, so he's always there watching film. Like even if I go earlier Even when I leave later, you know, his office is always with a light, you know, turned on.
His car is always there. So just, I think like the whole staff is like that. But it's really amazing. I'm very grateful to have him as a coach.
