Q1 What impressed him about St. Louis
What impressed you most about St. Louis when you watched them before?
I think that, like, the talent that they have in their team, like 1 through 5. Also, they all can shoot, like, the same, 1 through 5. They're a very efficient team on offense. They know what to do.
So they're going to be, like, hard to guard. And they're also, like, a good defensive team. So we got to do a good job tomorrow to get, like, to path to the next round. As you said, they're an efficient offense, and Howard's an efficient offense, had some success yesterday.
Do you see any parallels between the two teams and how they approach the game? Howard and St. Louis? Uh, uh, not really. I think Howard plays like, uh, 5-out, you know, with 5 guards, uh, and they didn't have like a center.
Like a big center. San Luis does, you know, with number 21. So it's a little bit different, like, but we just gotta like, I don't know, do a good job in defense, making them like take hard shots. Because as I said, they know what to do and who is gonna like, who has to get the ball, who has to like shoot.
So they're they're gonna— they always taking a good shot, so we gotta be ready for that.
Q2 Learning from struggles against stretch bigs
Aday Mara, stretch bigs have kind of given you guys problems in the past, like Wisconsin. I guess what can you guys take from those experiences that can help you tomorrow?
Uh, I would say like just guarding the ball better, uh, so we don't have to overhelp and they, they don't, they don't like— they don't feel like— they don't— they say like after you overhelp, you know, like there's gonna be players wide open in the three. So I think if we do like a better one-on-one defense that is not going to happen.
I'm not going to need to maybe help to the rim, so they're not going to find those wide open shooters. Just by doing that, and maybe, I don't know, be quicker when they get the ball to be there with one hand up. Those things I would say that they're very important for the thing.
Q3 Guarding a stretch big like Avila
Do you take a matchup like Avila where he's can shoot and kind of playmake outside, does that change your mentality of like how you have to play because it pulls you away from the rim more at times?
Uh, no, not really. I think I'm like, I think I can guard outside too. Yeah, it's just gonna be, it's gonna be a tough matchup because how talented he is. Uh, he can do like everything.
Uh, so I just gotta be ready for like for everything, I guess. Does— does his passing ability kind of remind you of the passes you go for? Yeah, I like the way he plays because he reminds me a little bit of me too. I think we have similar style of game.
But yeah, I like to see like another big being able to create and pass the ball. So it's fun. It's fun to watch him.
