Q1 Opening statement on the win

Coach Dusty May along with student athletes Elliot Cadeau and Aday Mara. Yep, we'll start with an opening statement. Thanks, Coach.

Dusty May

Very hard-fought game by two competitive teams. I thought our defense down the stretch was, was the difference. We were able to buckle down, force some really tough shots, and then finish with rebounds. We struggled in the first half. When we did force the misses coming up with loose basketballs and rebounds. And I thought late in the game that was the difference.

Q6 Getting others involved with Lendeborg quiet

Paul Sullivan, Chicago Tribune. When Yaxel Lendeborg not having many opportunities, Elliot Cadeau, do you take it upon yourself to get everyone else involved?

Elliot Cadeau

Yeah, we feel like we have a lot of guys that are really, really good. So if it's not Yaxel Lendeborg's night, somebody else will step up. You've seen Trey McKenney step up, have a really good game, make a lot of shots. And when he's having a good night, we're the best team in the country.

When he's not having a good night, I feel like we're still the best team in the country. So, yeah, a credit to Yaxel Lendeborg for keep— even though, like, he didn't get that many shots and he— he might have not made as many as he wanted. He was playing defense very hard. He was trying to get rebounds, attacking the glass. So he could affect the games in many other ways other than just scoring.

Q10 Lendeborg staying in the offense

Seth Berry, Michigan. Dusty, you just mentioned Yaxel. And I was just wondering if you can kind of speak to his ability to, even though he's having a little bit of an off night, not force shots, just to stay within the offense, what that means for you guys with all the accolades he has to be able to just kind of stay poised and stay within the game.

Dusty May

Yeah, he had 6 assists. I thought he played a good floor game, and he just didn't seem like he had a great rhythm for whatever reason. The thing with Yaxel Lendeborg is if he's on the court, he's giving you leverage and attention on him so you can play some 4-on-4 away from him. You know, Elliot Cadeau's assists a lot of times they're with Yaxel Lendeborg being guarded differently than maybe somebody else in the corner.

And also just his size and length. But he'll bounce back tomorrow. That's one thing about Yaxel Lendeborg. He's a competitor.

He can get down on himself, but he always responds. And for him to have the Big Ten Player of the Year to have an off night and us still be able to beat a quality opponent like Ohio State is once again a testament to how good of a team we are. But yeah, I thought overall it wasn't one of his better performances. He'll bounce back and, you know, we know what we're capable of.

But most guys that, receive those type of awards, they're going to keep firing and they're going to try to shoot their way out of a funk or whatever the case. Yaxel Lendeborg just plays the game and wants to win.
