Q2 What Nebraska shows on film

Thanks, Coach. Aaron, you want to start us off? Hey, Dusty. Aaron McMahon, Ann Arbor News. I'm live. Could you speak more on Nebraska, what you've seen from them on film and what's made them so, so good?

Yeah, I think first thing that stands out other than how hard they play is their role definition. They all bring their own special sauce to the equation and really function well as a team. You know, they've been very, very effective in the portal as well. You look at Sandiford, and we knew how good he was because of how he played against us when he was at Iowa last year.

But then you factor in Berkey from UCLA, rank amassed. I mean, Nebraska was on the verge last year of having a team that could advance in NCAA tournament, and with him, they would have. So it's a good team. And then Jamarcus Lawrence, after his experience away from the program at Rhode Island, came back, and he's an extremely efficient, good player.

And so you could go down the list, but I think a big portion of their success should be attributed to Fred Hoiberg. I think he does as many invisible and tangible plays as anyone in our league, and he obviously brings a lot of winning qualities and team-first and a team-first mindset. So I could go on and on. They're fun to watch.

They're fun to scout. Like I said, they're as disciplined, as well-coached as anyone in our conference. Feel free.

Q5 Learning the team late in season

Obviously you know a lot about your team now. What is— what are some things that you still learn on a game-to-game basis at this point of the year, even as late in the year as it is, in terms of guys who can play together and things like that and how they play together?

I mean, a lot of that's dictated by officiating. We've tried to play guys with 2 in the first half. They've picked up their 3rd. So when we haven't played well, it's been when our rotations have been off.

I was really pleased with our bench the last game. You know, it just gets to that point in the season where we have to avoid the urge to hunt anything individual as far as accolades, stats, love, whatever it is, and just continue to share everything. And if we do that, we're really, really good basketball team. If we're out there playing with any agendas at all, then we're just pretty good and we'd have to rely on things going well for us.

So we, you know, we've played great this year and we've played poorly. So it's, you know, we know what we do, what we're doing when we're at our best. And so it's that— it's getting back to that level of commitment.

Q7 Playing a slow-paced Nebraska team

Next question. With regards to Nebraska, what's the key to playing a team that defends well and then wants to slow things down offensively?

They actually are— I think they might be number 1 in the country in transition 3-point shots. So they, they don't really slow it down. They, once they get into the half court, they cut well, they space the floor. The biggest challenge is, is with, with our size and ability to protect the rim, they play a 5-out style.

So if you run back to the paint on in transition defense, you're going to be looking running around trying to find someone to guard, and we're going to be off balance all night. So we've got to be communicating and taking in information as we're running back so we can get matched up early and push their catches out and figure out ways to disrupt them.

And we're going to have to change coverages. We're going to have to do a number of different things because they present so many different challenges. But they're good. Their ability to shoot the ball at— you know, they're not all great percentage shooters, but as we learned from Wisconsin, you know, they don't always have to be great percentage shooters.

They have to just knock them down on that given night. So we have to be prepared for it, for everything.
