Recruiting

Beilein on the Class of 09

MGoBlue has posted Beilein’s comments on the incoming class. Here is the bulk of them:

On forward Blake McLimans… “We believe Blake will be a great Michigan fit. He decided to go to prep school, get stronger and really work on his game. Blake has already benefited from that decision with his improvement at Worcester Academy and the amount of serious attention he received late in the recruiting process. He is a big time jump shooter at 6-10 and continues to improve his back to the basket post skills, which will give him versatility. He has a tremendous upside and we look forward to getting him on campus.”

On forward Jordan Morgan… “Jordan is another fine young man who comes from a very strong academic background. He will give us an additional physical presence down low. He is long and athletic and is a big body, very much suited for Big Ten basketball. He has really done a good job to improve himself — working on his conditioning and skill development which will pay dividends down the road. We feel he is going to have a bright future with us here.”

On guard Darius Morris… “Darius is an ideal fit for how we play. He is a big, athletic and skilled guard. He has the ability to shoot from deep and score off the drive. He handles the ball and he sees the floor well and is a very unselfish player. He has a very high basketball IQ with obvious court leadership ability. Off the court he is an exceptional student-athlete who will add value to our program and the University.”

On guard Matt Vogrich… “Matt is more than an excellent three-point shooter, he is a smart, poised and skill big guard who possesses great court vision. He can really stretch the defense and possesses a good feel for the game. He had an outstanding summer and competed favorably against some of the best prospects in the nation. We are excited with Matt’s decision to join our basketball family and we are confident he will be a positive asset to our program.”
