- Jeff Goodman breaks down the Big Ten, he picks Michigan fourth and names Matt Vogrich as one of his freshmen to watch. Michigan also makes two of the top five non-conference games.
- David Fox ranked the top inside-outside duos in the country, Michigan comes in at number 4 with Sims and Harris but Kansas (1), Michigan State (3), and UConn (6) also make the list.
- Jimmy King thinks that Michigan was too low in the Sporting News’ top 50 rankings, saying Michigan should be moved from 24 to 15.
- It sounds like Mike Gilchrist enjoyed his visit to Ann Arbor but Kentucky and Villanova (visiting this weekend) still appear to be the favorite. Here’s a quote from Gilchrist’s coach on the visit: “He had an unofficial to Michigan,” Boyle said. “I know he had a good time and enjoyed it very much and got to see them workout. I know he’s impressed with Coach [John] Beilein’s ability. He’s one of the better coaching teachers in college basketball. Mike enjoyed getting to watch them in practice. At this point he’s excited going there.”
- Class of 2012 St. Marks big man Alex Murphy (older brother at Florida) has offers from Providence, URI, BC, UConn, Notre Dame, Arizona, Kansas, Florida, Michigan, Indiana and Wake Forest along with Duke, UNC, and UCLA interest. Murphy’s teammate Kaleb Tarczewski has reclassified to the class of 2012 and is also drawing Michigan interest.
