ESPN College GameDay at Crisler Center: The Basics

gameday300[1]ESPN’s College GameDay will be airing live from the Crisler Center on Saturday morning in preparation for Michigan’s 9 p.m. game against Ohio State. The athletic department released the following Q&A in order to answer your questions about the event, what to expect and how you can participate.

What times will College GameDay be on the air from Crisler Center?

ESPN’s College GameDay team will do live hits during the 9 a.m. edition of SportsCenter. The newly-expanded College GameDay will begin at 10 a.m. on ESPNU and move at 11 a.m. to ESPN. Roughly beginning at 8 p.m., College GameDay will host its Saturday Primetime show leading up to Michigan’s clash with Ohio State at 9 p.m.

What time will the Crisler Center doors open for College GameDay?

Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. for the morning tapings of ESPN’s College GameDay. For the game, Crisler Center will follow the normal practice of opening gates one hour prior to the start of the game. A game ticket will be required for admittance for the evening show and game.

When will student season ticket holders be allowed to line up for College GameDay?

Students will be allowed to line up outside of Gate D via the Mortensen Plaza gate at the top of the Gate 1 steps beginning at 5 a.m.

How will student line-up procedures change for the game that evening?

The first 500 students who line up for College GameDay outside of Gate D and PRESENT THEIR MICHIGAN VS. OSU STUDENT SEASON TICKET VOUCHER AND VALID M-CARD will receive a numbered wristband that will serve as a fast pass to the front of the student season ticket holder line later in the evening, beginning by 5 p.m. All Fast Pass wristbands that are distributed at 7:30 a.m. will only be valid if redeemed by 5 p.m. at Mortensen Plaza.

What if I am a student season ticket holder and do not receive a fast pass wristband?

The remaining student season ticket holders who enter Gate D throughout the duration of College GameDay broadcast will be invited to line up outside of Mortensen Plaza beginning at 2 p.m. for the game against Ohio State.

Where should the general public and students who are not season ticket holders enter for College GameDay?

All students who do not have season tickets, as well as the general public, will be requested to enter Gate A or Gate C for College GameDay. In the event students are in the line for student season ticket holders, they will be allowed to enter Gate D but not given a wristband for the fast pass line for the game against Ohio State.

Do you need a ticket to be allowed into College GameDay?

No game ticket is needed. College GameDay is a free event in the morning. A game ticket will be required for entrance for College GameDay’s Saturday Primetime beginning at 8 p.m.

Is seating for College GameDay reserved?

No, with the exception of the student season ticket holders, who will be directed to the Maize Rage bleachers. Ushers will be assisting all fans to specific seating areas for the tapings.

Where should I try to sit if I want to be on TV?

All fans will be directed to the west side of Crisler Center. Prime seating will be in sections 120 to 126.

What will the parking situation be during College GameDay?

Parking is free surrounding Crisler Center in the Blue Lot. All guests entering the lot for College GameDay will receive a flyer indicating that the lot must be cleared by 5 p.m. Men’s Basketball Blue Lot game day permits will be honored all day.

Where will the College GameDay set be located?

The College GameDay set will be located directly in front of the courtside scorer’s table on the west side of the court.

Which ESPN personalities will be in attendance?

The College GameDay crew of Rece Davis, Hubert Davis, Digger Phelps and Jay Bilas are expected to be at Crisler Center. For the game, Dan Shulman, Jay Bilas and Erin Andrews will be on hand for the broadcast.

Will Coach Beilein or the Wolverines players be in attendance?

Yes. Coach Beilein and a select number of Wolverine players will be in attendance.

Will concessions be open?

Yes. Concession locations on the west side of Crisler Center will be open to the public beginning at 7:30 a.m.

When will fans be cleared from Crisler Center?

Though the game won’t tip off until 9 p.m., both teams will need to use the floor for their normal gameday shootarounds. There may be brief opportunities for photos following the conclusion of College GameDay, but the set, crew and fans will be clear of the court by 12:30 p.m.

Are tickets available for the Michigan-Ohio State game?

The game is an official sellout.

How was Michigan selected to host College GameDay?

Each year, College GameDay sites are selected based on a number of factors, including recent program success, potential program success, and national significance of the accompanying game.
