Recruiting Notebook: Amedeo Della Valle begins official visits, Sean Sellers recaps Michigan trip

DV[1]We mentioned 2012 guard Amedeo Della Valle as a Michigan recruiting target last week and profiled him in this article. The multi-dimensional senior guard is now beginning to take his official visits this spring before deciding on a college.

Della Valle is on his first official visit today, making the trip to Texas A&M. He’s also scheduled an official visit to Arizona on April 13th. The interest between Della Valle and Michigan is mutual and, even though a Michigan visit isn’t officially on the calendar at this point, Della Valle informed UMHoops earlier this month that he wants to schedule a Michigan visit. Other major programs on the senior’s list include Ohio State, Gonzaga, Cal and St. Mary’s.

Find an an interview with 2014 prospect and recent Michigan visitor Sean Sellers after the jump.

Sean Sellers recaps Michigan visit

We first previewed Sean Sellers in September, but the 6-foot-5 forward has remained on Michigan’s radar this season and continues to talk to other big name schools such as Purdue, Indiana and Butler. He was most recently in Ann Arbor for Michigan’s win over Illinois on February 12th. Here’s what Sellers had to say about the visit, his recruitment process so far and more.images[1]

You recently visited Ann Arbor. Can you talk about that a little bit? “I was up there for the Illinois game. It was pretty fun, I liked the atmosphere up there. It was pretty packed. They played pretty well, so it was a good time.”

Did you get to talk to the coaches after? “Yeah, I talked to pretty much all of them. They showed us around the facilities there after the game. I liked it a lot. I liked the weight room. I think it’s pretty much brand new, and their practice gym is pretty big. The training room with all their hot tubs and cold tubs, it’s all pretty much high-tech, cool stuff.”

What kind of things were the coaches telling you, and have they told you how you’d fit in at Michigan? “Yeah they’ve told me that before. They just talked about the game and how they were going to try to watch me play. We had a Wednesday game, but they were preparing for Ohio State so Coach Meyer couldn’t make it.”

What other schools have you visited up to this point? “Butler, Indiana, Purdue, Dayton, Loyola and Michigan.”

Any one or two schools stand out? “No, not really. I’m just making my visits and seeing what I like.”

At this point, could you see yourself possibly fitting in at Michigan? “Yeah, I could.I liketheir offense and their coaching style. All their coaches seem pretty cool and they know what they’re doing. So I think I’d fit their offense pretty well. I could see it possibly happen.”

What part of your game makes you feel like you’d fit into the offense? “How they spread it, but also their three point shooters, and I can also drive, so I can see myself playing for them, kind of like Evan Smotrycz.”

Have you gotten any scholarship offers yet? ‘No I haven’t yet.”

Once you start getting offers, any time frame on when you’d like to make a decision? “The summer going into my senior year probably. I’ll probably take more visits and I’ll have a better idea of what I want.”
