UM Hoops Podcast 2.8: Big Ten Tournament Preview

Michigan is heading into the Big Ten tournament playing perhaps its best basketball of the season. The Wolverines have won five straight and wrapped up the outright Big Ten title. The time is ripe for a Big Ten tournament preview, and in today’s UMHoops podcast we did just that.

  • We kicked things off by speaking with Thomas Beindit, the editor of the SB Nation Big Ten website BT Powerhouse. Thomas analyzed every first-round matchup, including the intriguing Indiana-Illinois tilt which will decide who Michigan faces in its first tournament game. We discussed which teams have the most to gain and the most to lose, going in-depth with Michigan State and Iowa specifically. Finally, we touched on the All-Big Ten selections as well as Coach of the Year and Player of the Year.
  • Dave Merritt was forced to join us over the phone because of some ridiculous Michigan weather. Dave joined me to talk more in-depth about what has made Michigan’s offense work so well this season, the re-emergence of Glenn Robinson III and much more. Dave also spoke on the players’ perspective heading into a conference tournament when the NCAA tournament looms and he speculates on Michigan’s mindset heading into the weekend.

The songs were off of the Apollo Brown and Guilty Simpson collaboration, Dice Game. In order: The Cook Up, One Man, I Can Do No Wrong
