First reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, John Beilein interviewed with the Detroit Pistons today.

Former Raptors head coach Dwane Casey also met with Pistons officials today.

Beilein has actively been involved in talks regarding a contract extension at Michigan and is currently paid $3.37 million annually. He recently told reporters to “stay tuned” when asked whether he’d been discussing the matter with Warde Manuel.

Michigan’s assistant coaching pay lags behind the rest of the conference. Michigan’s staff made, in total, $675,000 last season. Several other Big Ten staffs have assistant coaching salary pools over $800,000 including Ohio State leading the way at $1.02 million.

Saddi Washington made $250,000 in 2017-18 while new hires Luke Yaklich and DeAndre Haynes were paid $225,000 and $200,000 respectively.

This has to be a negotiating tactic to wrap up his extension, right?

I just can’t see him leaving, but honestly, if I’m Miller or Holtmann or someone recruiting against him, I’m making sure Carton sees this ASAP. Bummer that this is a thing at all.
