With D.J. Carton’s visit set, a look at his recruitment

D.J. Carton has already been on campus once. He’ll return to Ann Arbor in late June for an official visit, his high school coach, Curtis Clark, confirmed to UM Hoops. The news was first reported by HawkCentral.

Michigan started pursuing the four-star point guard heavily last July, an effort spearheaded by Luke Yaklich. Logan Wynn, Carton’s AAU coach at Quad City Elite, has known Yaklich since he was at Illinois State, recruiting Isaac Gassman as a preferred walk-on. Gassman’s mother, Diane, was on the same staff as Yaklich when he was a history teacher. Needless to say, Gassman committed to the Redbirds. He averaged 3.8 points per game as a redshirt freshman last season.
