Michigan didn’t play its best game, but it played well enough to pick up its eleventh win of the season on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolverines shook off just enough finals week rust to knock off Western Michigan, 70-62. Michigan was flat for most of the first half, but Charles Matthews scored 8 of the last 10 points of the period as Michigan closed on a 10-0 run to go to the break with a 2-point lead.
Matthews helped the Wolverines pull away in the second, finishing with 25 points and 10 rebounds, but Western Michigan remained within striking distance until the final whistle.
